15 Job Boards for Web Developers & Such.

For all of you that are in the hunt, here’s a bunch of places to help:

  1. Authentic Jobs
Exactly what it says. These jobs are great.
  2. Hired
I really really like Hired.com. It turns the job hunt upside down. You can create your own portfolio and get up and running really quickly and you set your salary from the beginning. Then, the companies come after you. I’ve had solid interviews with great companies.
  3. Purple Squirrel
Pay to play. But might be worth it!
This is probably the most unique idea I’ve seen yet.
From the site: “Most people don’t realize this, but a full 64% of hires at Fortune 500 companies last year were the direct result of an employee referral. That means that 3 out of every 5 hires were made by having an advocate on the inside.” Purple Squirrel let’s you pay around $30 or so for a 30-minute interview with a person already working at the company you want to work for. You can ask that person for a direct referral or get advice on their interviewing process, etc. Pretty awesome. I’ve yet to try.
  4. Remote
The prettiest of all sites. I love the ideas here. I built a portfolio on it and got up and running, but still need to add specific projects to my portfolio page. This one is nice again, because they kinda match you to specific jobs and email them to you to tell you that you are a good match.
  5. Indeed
They kinda have the market. Now, the beauty of that is the process of applying is really quick — one touch-apply. The downside is you really need to filter down to find what you are looking for. I do love the process of having your Indeed resume uploaded and easily applying. I remember applying for 15 jobs while I was walking around the grocery store.
  6. LinkedIn
This is a no-brainer. Yes, it will bring a different (often a little corporate-ish feel) audience and the recruiters will pursue you like crazy, so be aware of that. The nice thing I’ve liked about getting your LinkedIn in order is a few things: First, there are so many jobs that you apply with through 3rd-party services like greenhouse.io and lever.io that have a “Import via LinkedIn” option. Second, LinkedIn has two apps for your phone that I’ve enjoyed. The LinkedIn Jobs app is nice because, just like Indeed, it has a nice EasyApply option. Third, there is a free month trial of the pro version that let’s you directly email people — which can be really nice for connecting.
  7. Stack Overflow
The place for developers to solve all their problems helps you solve your problem of being jobless too.
  8. LetsMakeApps.io
Scroll down to the bottom and click the “free” link → the guy just gives you craigslist and twitter links to freelance gigs everyday at 5pm via your email. Stumbled upon this guy via a crazy ad he had on twitter. He’s pretty smart with his marketing, and I’ve had a few phone calls with the craigslist ads.
  9. Your Favorite Company
Just go to your favorite company’s sites and click careers at the bottom. If they don’t have a link… try “THEIRSITE.com”/jobs or /careers. At the very least, you get to see a cool 404 page.
  10. Twitter
Look up hashtags like #freelance #remotejobs #webdevelopment and reach out to people. But if they say DM, then direct message them — don’t @ them. I’ve seen so many people do this.
  11. Crew.co
Join a team of freelancers and build cool stuff.
  12. remoteok.io
A great place to look for remote jobs.
  13. weworkremotely.com
    Another one!
  14. Github Jobs
These are pretty solid. You can quickly search by programming language or city.

Yeah…i did more than 15 job boards, but it was a great Medium title for SEO purposes so whatever :)
  15. Codepen
This has been one of my favorite places to search. Ironically, my codepen is not slam packed with pieces, but they have a lot of really awesome companies and no recruiter soliciting.
  16. Behance
This one has a good bit of design, with a few dev jobs sprinkled in.
  17. Smashing Magazine
    Just another quality one.
  18. Krop
This one is pretty spammy. It’s basically a lot of companies that are actually recruiters — so just always check the company site that is hiring.
  19. Awwwards
    Fancy.
  20. http://frontenddeveloperjob.com/
The new kid on the block.
  21. Glassdoor
The classic veteran on the block. Lots of stuff to explore here. Go all out with it. Build your profile, etc.
  22. Jobspresso
A random find, but I like it a lot! Very pretty interface and quality jobs.
  23. angel.co
This is the place to get plugged in with start-ups.
  24. Your Favorite Programming Language or Framework
They often have their own specific job boards… For example:

Other fun things for the heck of it:

  • waveapps (bill your clients, waaay cheaper than freshbooks)
  • dunked (quick online portfolio)
  • prospero (LOVE what this company (http://thenuschool.com/) does — read their articles, sign up for their news letter, and use this really nice proposal software that let’s you send online proposals really fast — great design if that’s important to you.)
  • Treehouse (keep learning)
  • http://collectui.com/ (turn these into code)

If you’ve got more job boards you like for developers, please share in the comments section! Thanks everyone!
