As we are about to move into the autumn season, it is high time we comprehend the fact that proper maintenance and cleaning of outdoor furniture must be a part of the overall transition process. Let’s have a look at some simple things we can do for making different types of patio and deck furnishings autumn ready:

Wrought Iron Furnishings :

Vintage deck sets made out of wrought iron must be cleaned regularly for preventing rusts. Cleaning the furnishings using a solution of water and mild detergent can work wonders. Tiny rust patches may be either primed, sanded or repainted using matching paints. These tasks should be executed somewhere dry either at the end of summer or during the beginning of autumn. Otherwise the resulting dampness would form more rust in winter.

Rust-Proof Furnishings :

Rust-proof, powder coated furnishings must be washed with water and detergent, and then allowed to dry. A soft bristled brush may be used for cleaning residual pollen, dead insects, debris, etc. from the corners.

Glass Tabletops :

Tables featuring glass tops must be cleaned, and then stored in an upright position some place safe, such as a big flat box.

Resin and Plastic Furniture :

Cleaning patio sets made of plastic or resin is relatively easy. Simply a wash with some light detergent followed by brushing would be enough to make them ready for the autumn as well as winter.

Outdoor Upholstery and Fabrics :

Although it is true that outdoor upholstery in Northern Beaches can withstand tough weather conditions, they still require a certain amount of maintenance for lasting longer. Stains and spills must be cleaned using some mild detergent and a piece of damp cloth. Minor mildew spots can be sprayed with vinegar and then dried in the sun. Besides that, any food crumbs or other debris should be brushed out from zipper closures and corners.

In case any upholstered furniture has got damaged or suffered from minor snags, it can be repaired either using DIY techniques or by hiring a professional. Upholstering patio furniture is not that difficult a task, but one must possess the right skills and tools for doing it properly. Once all the furniture items have been cleaned and repaired effectively, they would become ready for the autumn as well as the following winter.
