I was astounded by all the ways in which people responded to this moment, awkward and otherwise. The most surprising to me at the time was how people — mostly unmarried — failed to notice that I wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. Not that that’s a sure indicator either way, but still!
It wasn’t always easy to choose compassion. I’ve learned that when choosing compassion toward others is hard, I need to show compassion to myself and refill my compassion cup.
You’re welcome for the plug! That was an easy choice :)
