Wake up, sheeple: A critique of social media

You’re browsing Facegram. Scrolling through an endless stream of stories you don’t care about from people you don’t really like.

You’re browsing through album after album of wedding photographs when you’re struggling to meet people of the opposite sex, let alone working on that perfect relationship.

Hunched over your laptop looking at gym selfies of acquaintances with arms bigger than your tiny, spindly thighs.

You’re envying vacation photographs in Thailand, Kenya and Spain. You’re looking at the most clear beaches in the world, man becoming one with wildlife like the good old days, the best-dressed people you’ve seen in your life.

You’re snooping on pictures of that one guy with the girl you’re convinced is your soulmate, but whom you’ve only ever admired from a distance because you were never good enough.

Settle for last place now, chump because you’ll never live a life as good as theirs — all the proof you need is right here on the internet, take a look why don’t you?

Open your eyes, sheeple. Turn it off, sheeple. Instant gratification by way of mindless scrolling isn’t worth it, sheeple. It sounds like I’m preaching with condescension at this point — that’s because I am, sheeple. You’re better than this. Wake up, sheeple.
