The Gray Elephant in The Recruiting/HR World

For the last few months, I have been researching the interview process of many recruiters or HR professionals to better understand their process and how candidates move through the interview cycle.

Employee experience is huge right now within the world of HR, anything from free drinks snacks foosball table pickleball or ping pong tables are available for employees and the new ones as well, shiny new computers backpacks and company t-shirts are given to new employees.

After the dust settles and those employees are dealing with the day to day operation that they need to get done we learn about the “customer experience”, and as a customer myself we all want to have a great experience with whatever platform services or products we are paying for.

Now what it has become clear is that in the recruiting world no one really cares about the “candidate’s experience”, and how those who are going through an interview process think of the recruiter or the company they are applying for.

One of the things that recruiters or HR professionals forget is that they are the first point of contact for a candidate and in this day and age these candidates are quick to share their experience either positive or negative with the world, and if you look online you will find samples of both in large quantities.

That’s the reason I decided to attend this event, to learn and see what disruptive and innovative new ways they had for their hiring process. But the event was sponsored by many ATS and HCM helping recruiters automate their process, this saves a ton of time for them and they are great tools for recruiters.

Overall the Gray elephant in the recruiting/hr world is that there is no attention to the candidate’s experience and how much it can be done to provide a positive experience for those who ultimately will become an employee and hopefully a company and brand ambassador who wants to share their experience from being a candidate to an employee.
