How to teach responsibility to your child

Make your child responsible by becoming their role model, stop comparison and reward their tasks.

We as parents are struggling to maintain our work life balance, raising kids has always been a challenge for all of us. As time is too short and our busy daily chores don’t allow us to read 100 pages parenting manual. I have tried my best to pen down tips to teach responsibility to a child.

Helping their parents

Ask your little one to help you, a task that is, suitable for them, for instance they can arrange their toys and place them in their proper places. Wiping the table after having their meals. This inculcates a sense of responsibility in them.

Decision making

Let them make little decisions, for instance what they want to have for breakfast, give them ample options to select their answer. This little decision making, makes them feel valued and instill confidence.

Reward your child

Rewarding them for their efforts, encourages them and boosts their energy to do their tasks with love and ease. Praising them when they arrange their toys, or clean their wardrobe etc.

Stop comparing

Every child is unique, born with their God gifted abilities, comparison reduces their self esteem, causes anxiety and makes them feel inferior.

Parents are their role model

Children are the greatest imitators, they love imitating every one around them, be their positive role models because children never learn from long lectures rather they learn by observation.
