'Gone With the Wind' Explains a Lot About America
John DeVore

There are a couple of other great films, likewise explaining a lot about our history, that are unfortunately obscure despite fine production and excellent lead actors. These are “The Great White Hope” a 1970 film starring James Earl Jones as the boxer Jack Johnson, and “Bojangles”, a 2001 biographic of Bill Robinson starring Gregory Hines. In one scene Robinson meets Hattie McDaniel and some of the others from GWTW.
