Seriously, Block those Drama Queens
Eject that sh*t from your life
We all know that one person.
Or maybe there’s more than one.
That one person who has something negative to say about everything. Who snides you, talks down to you, but in a passive way, a way that makes you think that you’re overreacting.
That one person who always tries to pick an argument where you’re the one at fault, but if you don’t bite they turn that into the argument.
Then you do what I’ve done so many times. You obsess over it because you don’t see their toxicity, you only see your own shortcomings and how what just transpired was your fault.
You probably think about cutting them off, but they’re your friend and you aren’t that kind person.
Here’s the thing though.
It’s time to start being that person.
Be that selfish person who snips the threads without a second thought.
Last year I had a ‘friend’ who, once again, wanted to be a snide little sh*t (that’s putting it mildly).
The difference this time was I saw it for what it really was. I saw the manipulation and recognized it. This person tried to passively drag me into a very dramatic and potentially legal spat that had absolutely nothing to do with me, but I’d been privy to all of the details from the sidelines, so I’d watched the entire incident play out from a very objective standpoint. Then her messages started coming through trying to bring me into it all.
At the same time this happened, I was in the middle of launching my startup beauty company, and I was working for another friend as she launched her own company. This third person was in the middle of ripping off my friend’s company and copying it to start her own business and was trying to drag me into the catfight.
The fact that this was the drastic point it had to come to for me to finally make the decision to officially eject this person 100% from my life in every way, shape, and form is telling to my own blindness all-too-trusting nature.
This was the moment I decided to be that selfish person because I couldn’t risk this kind of nonsense interfering with my startup.
So this is my message to you.
Those people who drape you in those danky remarks and snide comments? Delete them. Eject them. Cut them off without a word and don’t look back.
You don’t deserve that kind of negativity in your life, and they don’t deserve you in theirs.
