Procrastination — in University students
I am not going to argue that procrastination is a problem only for university students. It’s something everyone suffers from. But the way students do it in University should be looked at more.
The way most university courses are structured, you are supposed to go to classes, keep up with the material, do the assignments, quizzes, midterms and then the final. But most students are almost always doing assignments last minute and cramming for the exams late at night when there are only a few days left. But if the courses are structured well, why is this is the case? One can argue that it is up to the students to change their approach and follow the ideal process. But if a vast majority of students are failing to do that, shouldn’t there be an alternate approach? Changing the structure of the courses, making different courses more in sync or coming up with something completely new and radical.
This might take a lot of thought, but I believe it’s time we take a long, hard look at how university education works. Some changes might be in order.
