How to Find Out if She’s Really The One

What a privileged bubble in which you live, where you can take a year off for travel. And, in which your families can visit you in Nicaragua. What percentage of the (not just white people) population do you think this represents? I’d wager that it’s not much — even among college-educated Americans.

While I might take this moment to dive into a tangent of rage that you could/would publish this article in such blissful ignorance, I will instead posit this: You and your wife/partner have not been challenged in a way that your privilege couldn’t provide you safe passage. Yet. When you do meet a challenge that your money and position can’t eliminate, you’ll really find out who each other is.

Until then, please don’t consider yourself capable of or qualified for publishing personal or marriage advice, because you aren’t representative. Or, if you do, email it directly to people in your fortunate socioeconomic class. The rest of us are busy dealing with a grittier version of life, which you likely haven’t met. Yet.
