Community Bonding Period at CircuitVerse — Google Summer of Code 2024
Meet and Greet
During the first week of community bonding, we engaged in meet-and-greet sessions with fellow mentors, contributors, and organization admins. We shared our excitement about getting into GSoC and discussed our journeys. Each participant introduced their projects and highlighted their potential impact on the organizations involved. My mentors, Vaibhav Upreti, Vedant Jain09, and Tanmoy Sarkar addressed all my queries regarding my project, the CircuitVerse Practice Section. Additionally, Aboobacker MK provided insights into the process flow for the 12-week projects and discussed various open defects in CircuitVerse.
During this phase, I shared my experiences, work history, and the technologies I use. This open exchange not only improved our mutual understanding but also laid the foundation for a collaborative and productive working relationship. Establishing these personal connections early on is crucial for effective teamwork throughout the project.
Tutorial Learnings
In the second week, I deep dived into Ruby on Rails and Vue JS. Though I have a knowledge on these things earlier but a brushup is essential before deep diving into the code . I reffered to Odin Project documentation for Ruby on Rails and VueJS Crash course youtube video to have a revision of the concepts.
Deep Dive into CircuitVerse CodeBase
The third week of the community bonding period was dedicated to a thorough exploration of the CircuitVerse codebase. I identified the parts of the code that needed changes and made several modifications (some of which were initiated in the pre-GSoC period). I had a detailed discussion with Ruturaj, the org admin, about various edge cases that might arise in this project and their potential solutions. We also discussed potential areas like how the question practice simulator would differ from the standard one and how user progress would be tracked and saved.
Conclusion
As I progress, I am enthusiastic about continuing to learn, collaborate, and innovate. The strong support system and clear vision driving us instill confidence and motivation. The community bonding period at CircuitVerse has been an enriching experience, laying the foundation for a successful and impactful project. I am eager to contribute to CircuitVerse’s mission and make a meaningful impact.
