How Not to Eat Bad Food From Tomorrow
I usually get super pumped about ‘tomorrow’ at night, especially right before going to bed.
I am gonna wake up at 5AM and kick ass. I am going to meditate, run, and lift weights. I am gonna be kind to all of my families and friends, even strangers. I am gonna walk my dog every single day after this sleep.
I WILL DO IT ALL.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SLACKING OFF.
On top of those, I am not gonna get pissed about anything. I am not gonna raise my voice to my girlfriend. I am not gonna take a siesta. I am not gonna consume mindlessly the things on social media. I am not gonna waste my time on watching stupid TV. Blah, blah, blah…
I WON’T DO ANY OF THOSE.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY THAT I GET TO INDULGE IN.
And, I make all kinds of commitments mentally and sleep on that good feeling…
And when that ‘tomorrow’ actually comes the next morning, everything is reset back to normal.
By ‘back to normal’, I mean you are not inspired enough to even get your ass off the bed now.
The determination that seemed to be ever-lasting is gone. Like gone.
The “rock-solid” motivation that you felt last night is nowhere to be found.
It’s gone as if it never existed before in the first place.
When it comes to changing the human behaviors, momentum is everything.
When you are motivated, take advantage of that emotion. Don’t let it die down with old habits with the excuse of “the last time”.
Old habits are hard to break, as you know. But, you can unchain that with that oomph you feel on some occasions. So, make full use of it.
When you take action towards positive, saying to yourself, “I am gonna eat healthy right from this dinner, no pizza anymore. Starting now.”, instead of “this is the last time of eating McDonalds’, everything is gonna be organic and grass-fed from tomorrow on.”, the momentum of a new behavior and mindset start to roll.
You wake up the next morning still with that momentum when you’ve taken some kind of actions, whether small or big. So, you do it again. You get more momentum. With patience, you can make it a habit.
But, you have to remember that when you sleep on the emotions that make you itch to do something without any motions or actions taken before sleep, you will invariably suffocate that motivation or inspiration in your unconscious sleep.
Always, start right, not wrong.
If you start wrong, wrong things will pick up the momentum.
Start right when you have the aid of that elusive motivation.
Take action in the middle of the process of reading an inspirational book.
Don’t wait for the book to end.
Don’t wait even for the chapter to end.
Take action when you are motivated.
Don’t just make a mental promise with that inspiration, go to bed, and let it disappear.
