Great article. I really like to hear when people keep an open mind and find out what it’s really like. I tend to agree with Martin Fowler that for the majority of applications that aren’t at web scale (ala Facebook) it makes more sense to start with a monolith and only shard off microservices where they a) are going to be receive a different load of traffic and thus need different infrastructure from the main app or b) are “hiding” an existing business system or capability that the main application needs to abstract so there is less coupling. That’s just been my experience however. Thanks for the excellent piece
