Imagine a small island, nestled in the Gulf of Fonseca, where fishing is the main livelihood and life flows at a leisurely pace. This island, La Pirraya, with its pristine beaches and close-knit community, is becoming an unexpected hotspot for a financial revolution. Through Bitcoin adoption, La Pirraya is poised to transform its economy and future.

During a recent episode of the BitCorner podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Quentin, a French expatriate who has spent the last year promoting Bitcoin education and adoption on La Pirraya. His journey and efforts provide a fascinating glimpse into the grassroots movement of Bitcoin in El Salvador.

Quentin’s story begins in France, where the restrictive measures during the COVID-19 pandemic pushed him to seek freedom and new opportunities abroad. He first traveled to Mexico, where he embraced a nomadic lifestyle, before finally settling in El Salvador. It was here that Quentin’s path crossed with “Mi Primer Bitcoin” (My First Bitcoin), a non-profit organization focused on Bitcoin education.
