How to marry Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship into a Business

Winner: Startup Britain competition for Best business advice in a Tweet.

Last year I won an Intel Ultrabook laptop from the Startup Britain campaign for the best business advice in a tweet:

“Business is about taking your values and making them of value so they become valuable to others.”

(Its about converting your values into valuables)

A little while later I commented that this process was actually the process of an entrepreneur. Interestingly an Apprentice followed the reverse process..

“Apprentices get shown what is valuable, learn how it is of value and eventually build their values around it.”

(Its about converting valuables into your values)

I then realised that someone running a successful business understood it was about knowing how much to act as an entrepreneur at a given moment and how much to act like an apprentice. When you consistently got the proportions right and acted to invest your resources and time accordingly, success was inevitable.
(Its about a happy marriage between your values and your valuables that gives rise to a loving family of products, services, customers, suppliers, shareholders and stakeholders)
