My 2016 New Year’s Goals

A new year has many thinking about a fresh start which typically breeds new resolutions. I personally love this time of year as it provides a time to reflect on the completion of one year and the promise of the year ahead.

As I thought about my 2016 goals shared below, I wanted to keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Ensure these goals are realistic but not too simple. These should be a stretch to complete.
  • Ensure these goals are S.M.A.R.T.
  • Ensure I’m considering every facet of my life (spiritual, physical, mental, etc).
  • Ensure I don’t get carried away and list too many! While I don’t always complete all of my goals, I want to give myself a real solid chance in doing so.

Given those guidelines, here are my 2016 goals in no particular order.

  1. Run 3 trail races; one mini-marathon by April, one marathon by July, one ultra by December.
  2. Read 2 books per month and 5 books must be fiction. Broken down even further I strive between 20–40 pages per day.
  3. Write one article a week on Medium, Quora, or on my blog on Wordpress and journal 500 words daily.
  4. Work with both of my boys to see them get baptized by June.
  5. Participate in 3 volunteer activities by December.

I’m excited to get 2016 started and I hope each of you are too! Lets keep each other accountable and see great things be accomplished in the year ahead!
