Monday Momentum Issue #4
Go make this week count!
I — Quote of the Week
· “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
― Mary Oliver
II — Articles That Captured My Attention
III — Key Book Learning
· From the book Rework by Jason Fried, there is a section discussing how good enough is fine that I wanted to share:
“When good enough gets the job done, go for it. It is way better than wasting resources, or, even worse, doing nothing because you cannot afford the complex solution. And remember, you can usually turn good enough into great later!”
IV — Highlighted TED Video
o This Ted Talk is 15 minutes long. I challenge you to watch and keep track of how many times you get distracted! Can you focus for 15 minutes on this video?
V — Personal / Professional Challenge
· I had the opportunity to join our ERP leadership team in a training class for a few days last week. The class turned out to be my favorite training that I have had the pleasure to be a part of.
One thing we discussed in the class was the human-being paradigm, where we have to be cautious of mixing facts with our interpretations creating a vicious circle and self-fulfilling prophecy.
We learned about making declarations, our word to the world focused on the future which was very powerful.
My challenge is simple, think about someone or something that you believe is fact and ask yourself if it truly is fact or more of an interpretation. Then consider if any action is necessary.
Facts are true or false, interpretations are variables like opinions, judgements, descriptions, and stories.
