Faded blues

I was fooled by love
By your soft touches and warm whispers
Smiles that paint the insides of my soul
With light and laughter and all those fuzzy things

At night I am left spent, longing foolishly
Wishing hopelessly that you’ll undo the hurt you’ve wrought
So that this poem never comes to be
Just so that my heart might return to me

But life gives no such assurance
It takes and it takes
And this time it took that last bit of the fuzzies I had left
So now I am here, spent
And I'll always be a remnant to your past
Like the faded blues of your jeans
