Birdies & Brews: A Series Introduction

Public tracks make the world go round…isn’t that how the saying goes?
Maybe not, but however the saying may go, public tracks are one of life’s finest, subtle pleasures…at least for me they are.
I didn’t used to believe this, though. I’ve come a long way through this game and am still on the journey to figure out what this game is all about. It’s a never ending roller coaster that’s only going up, my friend (h/t John Green, don’t ask). Jumping into the podcast scene though has already helped me more than I could’ve ever imagined, who would’ve thunk it?
Now, I’m continuing this journey through a new series: Birdies & Brews.
I, along with my co-host of the Bar Putt Podcast and best friend Phil, plan to travel to all sorts of towns throughout North Carolina to find a nice little public track and in that same city, pair it with the local brewery to talk about our round and shoot the shit, as any golfers would.
The reasoning behind this is threefold:
- It allows us to play more golf. We don’t play nearly as much as we did in high school (damn you, adulthood and responsibilities), so by starting this series it gives us that much more of an incentive (a.k.a. excuse for our significant others) to get out and play.
- It allows us to drink more beer. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, we’re both big into the craft beer scene, hence the name “Bar Putt.” This series will allow us to explore numerous different breweries, see how they run things and what kind of beer they have to offer. Count me in.
- Last but certainly not least, it allows us to connect with both our audience and the people we meet on these #fieldtrips. Beer and golf are the bonus. That’s what we’re all about at Bar Putt, sharing stories and sharing passions.
So come follow along as we embark upon a new adventure and many #fieldtrips. Who knows, you might just make a new friend?
