What’s changing with final grade entry?

If you haven’t already heard it, UPEI is replacing its old system called UIS with some newer technologies. One of the biggest changes for faculty and students is the end of the upei.ca/campuslogin service. Most of the services in the campus login are moving into myUPEI, but final grade entry will be moving into Moodle.

Obviously at the E-Learning Office we think that Moodle is a great landing spot for final grade entry. Moodle’s Gradebook is already a great way to share grades with students and Moodle can take care of managing some of the mathematics (such as dropping lowest grades, different weightings, etc.).

To boil down what this means, we’ve set up a couple of examples with how this change will impact you. If we missed out on your situation please let us know and we’ll update this list:

If you’re already grading in Moodle — you can keep using the Moodle Gradebook for housing your grades and you can easily submit final grades from your course using the new myUPEI block.

If you’ve never graded in Moodle but want to try it — you can come to our Moodle Gradebook workshops. They’ll be happening regularly throughout March and into the summer. You can also book an appointment for some one-on-one training by contacting us at moodle@upei.ca

If you’re grading using a spreadsheet like Excel — you can import all of your grades into Moodle. We’ll document the process and have tutorials available. You can also book an appointment with us by emailing moodle@upei.ca

If you’re grading elsewhere and don’t want to use the Moodle Gradebook— it’s not for everyone. You can manually add your final grades to the myUPEI block in Moodle, it’ll function similarly to the grade submission in the campus login.

Regardless of which of these categories you fall into, we’re here to help make sure that you can get your grades submitted. If you have questions or need help submitting your grades please reach out to us at moodle@upei.ca.
