I’m pleased as punch to hear that Danna!

Don’t sell yourself short on the editing front though. If you’re a writer, you’re an editor. They go hand in hand. If you’ve ever revised anything you’ve written, you’re an editor.

Sure, being an editor of a publication is about more than just revising content; you act as both gatekeeper and the voice of the publication, but I feel like you already knew that though.

I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong.

I’m the editor of a publication on Medium, anyone can be. It is not widely read or widely-submitted-to, and I haven’t created any guidelines yet. This is in part because I’ve created style guidelines by myself before, and they’re a bitch to put together, but it’s also because of, you know, the whole not widely read thing.

What would surprise me, is if a lot of smaller publications did have more structure in place. What has been your experience with The Coffeelicious and Life Tips? Are you using their editorial practices as your yardstick? I’m just trying to gauge where you’re coming from.

Sidenote: I know sometimes tone can’t really be relayed through text, so just know I’m asking all of this in earnest, and I’m in no way trying to troll or flame anything — i’m just curious.
