Journey to 205: The Start

As an effort to hold myself more accountable to reach the health and fitness goals that I have set for myself in 2016, I have decided to document my weekly eating and exercising habits. I’ll be writing about my daily routines, my success and achievements as well as my failures or cheat meals (scheduled or not). I have decided that Thursday will be my official weigh in day each week.

Let’s beg with where I started:

Height: 5' 10"

Weight: 238

Now where I want to be, come December 31, 2016:

Weight: 200–205

Body Fat %: 15–20%

As with most people, I have decided to start this journey(again) to lose some weight and get in shape at the beginning of the new year. Now, I’ll be honest, I started toward my goal last June, weighing in at 250 pounds and getting down to a decent 227 at my low point. Then the holidays hit, and the pie started hitting my plate. I put back some of the weight but have learned a lot about health and fitness, both good and bad, over the last few months.

Additional steps to help keep me accountable will be using apps such as MyFitnessPal to track my eating habits, macros, caloric intake and lifting schedule, FitMenCook to keep me on track with meal planning and eating right and Nike Running to track the amount that I run on a weekly and monthly basis.

I know it’s going to take some restraint and some dedication, but this year, more than years past, I am motivated to take this on and make a lifestyle change.

We’ll see how it goes!
