Star Wars: The Force Awakens

So I just went to go see the new Star Wars movie, and thought it would be nice if I put down my impression and opinion on that movie in writing.

First thing I’d have to say was that the action was fantastic, and overall it was a good adventure movie that kept to the traditional formula. Theres nothing wrong with sticking to the formula, is a conservative move that guarantees a positive expericene to the majority of the audience. If I was in between the ages of 10 and 17, I would have pissed-my-pants-loved-it and would not stop talking and thinking about Star Wars for about a month and a half.

Watching this movie reminded me of when I was 9 and my family and I went to go see the Phantom Menace. I remeber I loved the lightsaber fights, the space battles, and the fantastic alien creatures. Like I said, if I was a child I would have had a blast.

But as an adult I cant stop but noticing how many plot holes, un-answered questions, and choppy editing took me out of the moment. To clear my mind I’m just going to list the things that got me destracted while watching the movie.

  • How can there be a ice planet so close to the sun like that.
  • Finn gave Rey his jacket at one moment, but in the next scene, the jacket was back on Finn.
  • Why did they not mention anything about how Poe got back to the resistance base.

And I guess here are some questiones I would like to see answered in the following movies.

  • How did Maz get a hold of the Lukes lightsaber. I know they brushed it off saying it was not important at the moment.
  • Who was that old guy in the beggining who had the map to find Luke, and why did he have the map.
  • Is Captain Phasma going to have a bigger part in the next movies?

These were just the first things that popped to my mind. I did enjoy the movie, and it got me excited for the sequels. I just wished they would have explored more in storytelling, characters etc, and took a chance in trying to make something more experimental. Expectially since they already have a huge fan base that will go spend money to see this movie. Its hard to see something like this just be rehased to the newer audience, just because the investers of this movie wanted a garantee money back in their investment. To me this was an updated version of the New Hope.
