How I’m Learning to Love Baseball Again

The reason that baseball is becoming my favorite sport is the complexity and beauty of the game. I played baseball growing up, from Little League to high school and at the time, while I enjoyed the game, I didn’t truly see it for what it is.

It’s a game that takes great intellect to fully understand. This might be my new most favorite thing about baseball. In my opinion, this is what separates baseball from any other sport. It takes great intellect to play the game well, as well as it takes great intellect to understand and enjoy the game. I am so fascinated by the game. I could read book after book (right now I’m reading Moneyball) about the game. I want to know more and learn about the games and events that I haven’t been alive for. While there is areas of the game that take knowledge to fully understand and enjoy it, there is also so much to learn about the history.

The incredible history of the game also makes it the game so fun to follow. Baseball was first played in 1845 in Hoboken, NJ and while the game has had its ups and downs, it has for the most part stayed the same. My great great grandfather, Edward Brooks, could have loved the same game that I do today, and the same game that hopefully my great grandchildren will love. That is absolutely amazing to me.

These are just a few reasons why I love being a fan of baseball right now. I think that these are the foundations of why baseball is so cool and I’m looking forward to rediscovering old things that I loved about the game and forgot, as well as new reasons.
