There has long been an argument that small payments are too small to be worth the psychological cost of deciding whether to make the payment. But the converse should also be considered— receiving a tiny payment is disproportionately rewarding given its size. We believe that this more than makes up for the psychological cost of making a payment, since even curators on Yours can earn money. It’s worth it to make a small payment on Yours, because the joy of profiting is worth more than the value involved. Yours gamifies internet content.

I would argue that non-zero sized payments always present a localized psychological fee, whether they are otherwise compensated or not. An interesting way Steemit has approached this is by allowing the user to offload the psychological fee to a third party: using an upvote, User A petitions the system to pay User B for content, and the system automatically adjusts the compensation level.
Very interested to see how Yours approaches quality control and curation compensation. Also, are users empowered to pay any amount they wish for others’ content? Or are they encouraged to use system pricing of some kind?
