Nice post. Would suggest everyone check out one of the earliest books on web site usability by David Krug “Don’t make me think.” He recently updated to cover mobile and more of the current thinking about style. I Like that the above post does discuss ease of use and functionality being so important. Most of my experience is with a corporate intranet where my goal was to be about anywhere in 3 clicks. Users want to get on and find and do what they need quickly and predictably. Visual appeal is important, but shouldn’t be at the expense of usability.
