This just points to the greater issue of businesses, brands and celebrities ruining everything. Twitter was a great platform, then it became focused on celebrities and brands because those are what gets tweets featured on television. Sure news outlets are great, but it basically turned from a conversation platform to a broadcast platform. Maybe I’m just being a curmudgeon about the good old days, but today’s social media has basically taken the social out of the equation. It’s just the media replacing older platforms with newer outlets and continuing on, business as usual.

Star Wars Day has become so awkward now. I remember being a Star Wars fan in the early to mid-90s when most people had forgotten about it. Now it’s so weird 20 years later that every brand out there wants to show “we’re geeks too!”.
