5.12.14
2 Timothy 1
Faithfulness — “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.” 1:7 Boldness is a watermark of true faith, part of the fingerprint of authenticity, for the spirit that we were given as a deposit (Eph 1:14) is a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. God’s work in us is active and on-going, and requires continual submission and repentance to his provision and power. To be bold in this world means living visibly changed by the gospel, unashamed, and aware of the power that the Holy Spirit has imparted to us, utilizing this power to love in all situations, speak truth in the face of lies, and suffer willingly as a result. With this definition, its easy for me to see its impossible on my own. It is only by the power guaranteed me as a deposit that I will be capable of such boldness.
