“jk/snpringf-cleanups”, that’s a typo.

You seem to have misunderstood what ‘master’ and ‘maint’ are. The former is what will become the next release. The latter is forked at the last release (which was cut from ‘master’, naturally) and serves as a maintenance-only update track. It is advanced by merging topics that are about bugfixes and have already merged to ‘master’ . So from the ongoing development point of view, the stability and correctness of ‘master’ is the main focus (as opposed to ‘maint’ is an afterthought).

Other than that, a nicely written article that was a pleasant read.
