All people have to go through the unwanted at some point. Whether it is one’s occupation, classes, chores, it all takes up our time without our specific our desire. And when it turns out that one’s life is just being filled to the brim with these activities, it is necessary to receive some sort of relief away from work.
I happen to have this in my life as well, being the college student I am. I daily come in contact with going to into classes and stressing over what I need to be learning. This can easily become overwhelming, so I need somewhere to go. And I have this place to go, Boulevard Park. Bordering the southern Bellingham Bay, this place separates itself very well from the rest of the city. What I love is how it even takes one out over the water with its board walks.
While walking south-bound the parks sidewalk, the boardwalk snakes you over the rushing waves like some sort of safari, with the coastal foliage blocking all views of the nearby society and the ocean one the other side stretching as far as you can see. This is where I choose to go, a whole new world where I have nothing to think about except for my steps, no school work.
To flip the coin onto its other side, this environment of north-western Washington isn’t exactly optimal for this sort of location. We experience much undesired rain and chilling winds up here, and if one were looking toward Boulevard Park as a place to escape their life of responsibility, they would be flat out of luck in the not so nice weather conditions. A strong pour coming diagonally into one’s face won’t bring much relaxation; I would imagine the opposite effect.
If one is to catch this place during a good morning, the Wood’s Coffee is always there for coffee provision. I wouldn’t give this place outstanding credit, but they are absolutely capable of whipping up an exceptional cup of coffee. My girlfriend Nicole Wood enjoys the feature very much, for the addition of a good tasting sense can do amazing with all of the other senses coming from the environment: the salty smells, the windy gusts, the shimmering waves.
This beach environment is quite the aesthetic sight, showing the great features and characteristic of the classic Puget Sound beach. Its only for viewing though. I wouldn’t suggest attempting to swim the waters, as they would be a surprising type of cold, causing the swimmer to have the ice cube experience.
It is not the perfect park, Boulevard Park, but it does a great job for what it can be up in Washington. We can’t expect it to be a park in always sunny California; Boulevard Park requires the park-goer to wait for those special, outstanding outdoor day. Walking on the boardwalk, tasting the coffee, feeling away from everyday stressors, these activities can make the average person’s day exponentially more enjoyable.
