In Memoriam of Matthew Shepard
Thirty-seven years and so many tears;
I still look back on all these years.
My soul was torn and now I mourn,
For the nation and family from which I was born.
Alienated, in this alien nation;
Am I not a part of GOD’s creation?
This life, this love, and all of its lessons:
Ashamed, condemned, and stripped of my blessings.
For though I AM gay, I was ‘BORN THIS WAY’:
Loved and loathed, by what people say.
My trust in the Lord! To Christ I pray,
Knowing HE will save US, from that day.
