First day of fall

Sitting on your campus grounds, you gaze upon the world around

The bluest sky, green trees below, as friends pass by and say hello

An old friend burly in costume clad, causes a laugh and makes the heart glad

The folly of the troop he claims, gives your side such aches and pains

As beauty in a wedding white, gives your heart such pure delight

Blooming love that stops the breath, to move the heart and mind from death

While fall is come to greet you sweet, cool breezes kiss you upon the cheek

And all around the world moves slow, this day for you created so

And sitting there you read to me, I ride upon this tranquil sea

A voice of beauty in my ear, reminds me of your love so dear

I sink into a hazy dream and float upon a sea of green

While you beside me sail away, on this beautiful first fall day
