OOP was partially inspired by ARPAnet, and one of the goals of ARPAnet was to build a decentralized network that could be resilient to attacks like atomic bombs.

I’m reading right now book “Where Wizards Stay Up Late” and the notion that ARPAnet was build to survive Nuclear Strike is simple not true. Paul Baran that invented packet switching (he call it differently) did his work because of Soviets, but it was never a goal of ARPA when they’ve founded ARPAnet.
