Ah yes. Nothing says ‘my beliefs are right and yours are wrong’ like “I’ll pray for you.” There is no proclamation more patronizing, belittling, dismissive, or rude than, “I’ll pray for you.” Finally, there is no simpler or higher expression of the evangelical desire to rule others than the seemingly innocuous and oh-so-sincere sound of “I’ll pray for you” passing through another’s lips.
