So true. Also, an old tale in design. 
Non designers and young designers trying to answer long answered questions.
I blame the poor K-12 education we give in the U.S. The vast majority of students get no art or design classes at all now. Zip. 
STEM is only making this worse. Forcing everyone to be a scientist or technologist will never work.
I love science but, common. Be realistic. STEAM is more like it.
Also, in much higher education for design, there is too much adherence to traditional modernist methods and concepts.
Fanatical modernism is unhealthy and often misses the human connection and limitations so important for success.
Form follows humanity.
