Journey to 100!
(See It Through)
“When you’re up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!
Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
But don’t let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!
Even hope may seem but futile,
When with troubles you’re beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting;
Don’t give up, whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
See it through!”

In the first two weeks of this month, I lost a total of 15lbs by starting with a 3 day juice cleanse, and mostly clean eating with very little carbs. I hit my personal best of 70 lbs lost, but lost focus and “rewarded” myself with an amazing California Burrito, some BBQ and ice cream in that same week. The feeling of accomplishment let me lose my focus and slip into a cycle where I gained 8 lbs in 2 days. The body reacts in crazy ways when you switch up your diet!
The reason I started this blog with a poem is because it is a reminder that no matter how tough the road ahead of me is, I must “See it Through.” I remember in high school, my whole team memorized this poem and recited it before every game to keep our motivation and I find myself coming back to this as I search for motivation this week.
Another gem is the 12 P’s:
Piss poor preparation produces piss poor production, piss poor production, produces pain.
This week I came off the weekend in a slump because of the weight change, after working so hard, just to see things come back twice as fast. Now that the week is over, I’ve been able to get back within 2 lbs of my lowest weight, but there is still a long journey ahead. Something I started doing this week to get back on track was adding a warm up workout before my cardio. Its quick, simple and gets your heart rate going. Make sure to time yourself, this should only take 7 mins.
Start with 25 jumping jacks
1 minute plank
25 jumping jacks
1 minute plank
25 jumping jacks
1 minute plank
25 jumping jacks
Make sure to hit the jumping jacks before the minute comes back, it is meant to be almost continuous, leaving little time to rest.
Now that I’m motivated to get back on track, I started prepping healthy snacks during the week and even got a cooler for the car the keep things edible throughout the day. Like I mentioned in the last blog, Costco has some good deals on fruits and veggies. Hoping to end off the month strong and get under 245lbs for the first time in over 4 years.

I got to hike twice this past week and was able to take better pictures of the Victory Trailhead.
