About Me

Welcome to my professional portfolio. My name is Jasmine DeShea Cohorn. I am a junior at Eastern Kentucky University. I am seeking my degree in Broadcasting and Electronic media as while as a minor in women and gender studies.

During my time in college I have worked at a writing center at my university, the Noel Studio. I started working here my sophomore year and it sparked my interest in writing, creativity, and editing; while helping me grow in those three areas as well.

I also served as opinions editor for my school newspaper, the Eastern Progress, for my spring semester of 2018. This position also contributed to my editing skills and I started learning how to use Adobe InDesign where I laid out my pages in the opinions section of the newspaper.

In the fall of 2017 I joined a student organization on campus, Minority Collegiate Connections where I have developed my public speaking and communication skills. Fall 2018 I was elected the Communications division lead, where I am over the social media chair, PR and marketing chair, and the Media manager. Since my election my biggest contribution has been starting and launching the organizations bi-monthly newspaper, the Minority Connections Courier.

In the spring of 2018 I initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Inc. This sorority has also helped me to develop various skills such as public speaking, organizing, and planning.
