What a beautiful Friday it was in Oswego, perfect for a brisk walk outside. The busses were a little less full this afternoon, which meant more people walking on their way to class. This was a perfect opportunity to explore Oswego State and talk to a few of the fine folks around campus and get their thoughts on a few small-talk topics. So I booted up the Twitter app and took to the streets.

Below are the tweets I posted on my small adventure.

Part II below

The best response I received was in my third tweet. Emily gave a great answer to my question of why she enjoyed coming to Lake Effect to get a coffee and study. I selected that area to explore because of the atmosphere; coffee shops just make a peaceful place to chat over a drink or get some work done.

Some of my favorite classmates’ tweets…

Reflecting back on the overall experience, I enjoyed reading everyone’s tweets, and seeing their creativity flow right along with mine. Going out and talking to new people was well worth my time, and I learned quite a bit about how to approach random people for their thoughts.

As far as the material I collected goes, I found the answers I received to be quite intriguing. Most of the people I talked to had a tiny bit of difficulty coming up with more than just a few spotty thoughts, which gave me some difficulty in composing a full quote worth reading. But I did get some quality content after a bit of rearranging. One-hundred forty characters is only so much room, and in the end, I had to break one tweet up into two tweets to fit the entire message.

Thank goodness the weather was cooperative. Everyone seems to be in a much more cheery mood with the sun out and the temperature around 65 degrees. A nice day to conduct a reporting scavenger hunt.
