I snorkeled in the Florida Keys in 1990 and also saw the amazing colors that Miyoko described. But when I sailed to Tahiti and Hawaii in 1995, about 95% of the coral was bleached. This was over 20 years ago, and it was really depressing, like watching the Earth die right in front of my face.
Industrial society is killing our planet. We have to not only switch to the least harmful technologies possible, like rooftop solar and electric cars charged by it, but we must also start living a lot more simply and naturally.
