In one of his books, Douglas Adams pointed out 15–20 years ago that noise from ships prevented whales from hearing each other. In typical Adams fashion, he then commented that this is not much of a problem UNLESS YOU’RE A WHALE.

This hideous noise is just another of the many reasons that international trade needs to be greatly reduced if not totally eliminated. As to the U.S. military, that’s the most polluting entity on the planet, so of course they don’t care about making noise. Substantially cutting the military budget would leave no money to spend on stuff like this, and for that and many other reasons we should all advocate for those cuts.
