It’s not at all true that China’s one-child-family policy didn’t work. In fact, it worked so well that it’s estimated that it prevented about 400 million births. This policy is also supported by about 3/4 of the Chinese people. There were some problems with the policy, but there’s no doubt that it greatly reduced the birth rate in China. Even now that the policy is ending, most Chinese young people say they don’t want more than one child, because it’s what they’re used to, and because they realize that their lives will be so much better with a smaller family.
The lie that China’s one-child-family policy was a failure has been promoted by anti-contraception and anti-abortion people, who ignorantly worship humans alone and think it would be great if the human population were to just expand infinitely. And of course by business interests who would see their profits declining due to the reduced consumption that would be caused by lower population. “Don’t believe the hype!”
