One think no one is talking about is that these guys are ranchers, and ranching has done more ecological damage to the western U.S. than anything else. The first confrontation in Nevada was because Bundy’s father refused to pay for grazing his cattle on OUR public lands. Getting cattle off public lands in the west was a major campaign of Earth First! when I worked with them in the ‘80s.
I would like to see CBD and other conservation groups raise this issue. It’s outrageous that ranchers are getting away with this, and we need to publicize how destructive ranching is to our western lands.
