Endangered Species Act At Risk
Loyal A. Mehrhoff

The Endangered Species Act was greatly weakened a long time ago. A Democratic majority Congress, at the behest of Ronald Reagan, put the major loophole called “Habitat Conservation Plan” into the Act. This allowed people who wanted to destroy natural habitat to do so, as long as they “saved” a portion of it. The Act has been far less effective since then, despite whatever successes it’s had.
