It’s been awhile…
It’s been about a week since I’ve written anything and I would really like to explain myself. You see, I’ve been stressing out over building a calculator. A Javascript calculator.
On the surface, for the non-coder, this seems pretty simple. As a coder, you have to think about how you are going to attack this dilemma. Not as simple. The problem I ran into was deciding on what approach to take. I’m not going to bore you with my list of failed approaches. I finally got it done.
The thing is that this calculator CONSUMED my life this past week. I ruminated on it almost every waking moment. I dreamed about it. It was affecting my marriage. A simple calculator shouldn’t do this.
But then SUCCESS! And that’s all that matters, right? Not even close.
On Thursday (20 July), we were notified that The Iron Yard was closing it’s doors at the end of our cohort. (#theochoforlife) It was a tug of war involving all kinds of emotions and thoughts.
It was short battle. Once I learned that it was going to be “Super Iron Yard Plus” and that I was getting all of the same support that I signed up for in the first place, I’m staying. No brainer!
I can’t believe my luck. I got in on this right before the end. It doesn’t get any better than that. I’ve seen what it has done for my brother and know that it’s going to do the same for me.
So, to sum up, a lot has happened this week and now I can relax this weekend. I’m going to get focused on this upcoming section of learning about back-end and see what I want to be when I grow up.
Hopefully, we will be back to our regularly scheduled blogging.
