I could sell you something that supposedly fills a need you have but also has harmful components/side effects you have no reasonable way of discovering yourself in a timely manner before using the product (no, you will not be able to set up a lab & conduct experiments while on a shopping trip to Home Depot.)
The latter is what regulations exist for. To protect consumers. Entrepreneurs' desire to profit should never supersede protecting the population under any circumstances.
This is a great way for swindlers and hucksters to make a quick buck from an unprotected population. No thanks.
