How Do You Respond?

As I’ve certainly learned the hard way in the past, sometimes there are days where things don’t go quite as we planned.

For starters, I woke up later than I wanted to have enough time to work on an upcoming photo project and reach my usual daily goals of drawing, working in Adobe Studio and writing. While cleaning up around the apartment and taking a quick trip to the library, I was able to recover some of the time I felt I had lost. Part of the plan was to kill two birds with one stone with a trip to Tactics, the local skate shop, to get some new bearings and possibly get some photos that met some of the criteria for the project.

The late start did indeed come to bite me in the ass when I discovered on the skate back from the library that I didn’t have my keys. After getting the tenant manager to let me in, retracing my steps, or line rather, to the library with no avail to finding them, another half hour had slipped away. Instead of pondering and worrying if I would make in time, how I would get more keys as my past self would have, I kept it pushing. I made it to Tactics with about 10 minutes to spare and made my purchase. Though I didn’t get the photos I was hoping for, I did hand in my resume to apply for video editing, something I’ve been meaning to do for the longest but kept putting it off.

When I got back, not only did the TM have another set of keys ready but I was able to work on the project at home and still manage post this before the nights end. The day may not have gone according to plan, but it certainly did not go to waste.

Benjamin P. Hardy said it best, Life’s a classroom. it’s always handing out lessons with each experience. Today’s lesson: when life throw’s you a curve, how do you respond?
