A Good Day

Another productive day in the books.
Though I had alarms set at 7 am and 7:30am, I still managed to get up at 8am which in my book is a win. The night owl in me would have loved to wake up after 10 but I knew today was going to be busy so that wasn’t an option. Did my morning routine, meditated, wrote in the journal, worked out then showered and immediately got down to business. Since I usually spread out working in Adobe Studio, practicing hand lettering, and drawing a daily notecard sketch, I finished it all by noon so I would have plenty of time to finish my photo project.
Having gone to bed around 3 am-ish, I figured I’d get a quick nap in before going to physical therapy to work out my knee at 2:15. It’s around 12:30pm at this point so I thought a good hour would do. Ended oversleeping a little bit but I managed to get there about 5 minutes late, no biggie.
From there the day really took off. One of the prompts for this photo project was to capture somebody in their natural environment so naturally, I went back to Tactics. Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant because I wasn’t sure if they would let me take photos in the store. Should’ve known they were gonna be chill about it. Tactics is the shit.
Once I got a couple photos one the dude’s there suggested I see if I could get some more shots at Washington Jefferson, the skatepark down the street. As one of the other prompts was to take photos of strangers, this was another chance to kill two birds with one stone. Once again, hesitation kicked in due to a longtime habit of not putting myself out there and meeting new people. Once I said fuck it and introduced myself to a couple skaters there, not only did I get the photos I needed but I also stayed for at least another hour and a half to film.
Lesson of the day: Put yourself out there. Life gets interesting when you get out of that comfort zone and simply introduce yourself.
Met some new homies, finished my project, stacked clips in the process and still got back in time to write this before midnight. Yeah, I’d say today was a good day too, Ice Cube.
Edit of the footage coming soon.
Peace,
J
