If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Benjamin P. Hardy and his articles on self improvement, it’s that we as humans operate systematically. Bad habits in one aspect of life will ultimately carry over to another. Last night, I let myself fall back into the habit of idly surfing YouTube into the early morning. In falling back into habits of comfort, this ultimately carried over into the morning as I hit the snooze again, pushing my day back.

Despite the slight stumble in the journey for self improvement, I still managed to be productive. Tonight I decided to watch a double-header of Friday night basketball since it has been a minute since I’ve watched any basketball from this season (besides All-Star weekend which is tradition) and to be honest, I’ve been missing it. Instead of just sitting down and watching as I have in the past, not only did I get some designing done but I decided to do 20 push ups and 20 squats during commercial breaks. The squats were cool but man, do the push ups add up. I almost forgot how many commercial breaks they take. I might have to make that a routine for next time.

Lessons of the day:

  • We always have a choice. I chose to go on YouTube and stay in my comfort zone. I also chose to make the best of how I spent my time the next day.
  • It’s not about how you start, but how you finish.

Finish strong.

Peace,

J
