I’ll Handle It
Man, now that I think about it, it’s been almost a year since I first read Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers. Since then, I consider this a go-to tool to keep close on this journey to self-mastery. If there’s one thing that’s stuck with me since the first read, it’s the phrase “I’ll handle it.” Similar to Jocko Willink’s “good,” it’s incredibly simple yet highly effective. She said in the book that this phrase is instrumental in conquering fear and it makes total sense. If you know that you can handle any situation in front of you then the fear starts to diminish.
I haven’t been consistently practicing this but when I’ve been mindful enough to do so after worrying, I notice that I feel a lot better. In fact, I feel that it helped make more driven when I said it. As I did my brainstorming before writing today, I came to the conclusion that it’s this mindset that makes someone unstoppable. In saying “I’ll handle it,” you acknowledge the problem but that you will come up with a solution for it.
It shows that you’re ready for whatever’s thrown at you and that ultimately, you’ll keep it pushing.
