If there’s anything that my knee injury taught me, it’s that pain is only temporary. When I first got hurt, I only made it worse buy focusing how I’d be out of commission from doing the things I love doing. Though it’s not at 100%, the pain has certainly subsided since then.
The way I see it, there’s more to Lance’s quote than just enduring physical pain. It’s much larger than that. That was a tumultuous time for me mentally as well. But despite all of that, I still got through it. Like Bryson Tiller, I’m still standing on my own two feet.
Though I managed to fight through it, I’m nowhere near where I know I can be physically. I may have managed to come this far on my knee but there was a point where I didn’t do much to get better, where I didn’t take care of my knee at all. I got caught up in the sadness of being hurt instead of the determination to get better. It wasn’t until I made that switch that I started seeing progress.
Pain is temporary when you acknowledge it and move forward.
Peace,
J
